Torque Converter Lock-Up Shudder

This is the big one.

You’re cruising at 40–55 mph (64–89 km/h). Light throttle. RPM drops slightly as the converter clutch applies. Then you feel it — a low-frequency vibration. Almost like you drove over a rumble strip made of air.

TSB 14-078 ties vibration between 30–65 mph (48–105 km/h) to PCM calibration interacting with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM). In plain English, the engine goes into cylinder deactivation mode and the converter clutch strategy doesn’t play nice. The fix was a PCM reflash. In AWD trims, sometimes a new prop shaft because the center support bearing didn’t damp vibration well in cold weather below 32°F (0°C).
